Description

Differs from other races by the black or blackish-grey mantle. Sometimes the black on the rear part of the back lacks the intensively and the color becomes blackish-grey.

Distribution

Breeds in highlands of Northern and Central Tien Shan (Ketmen and Zailiyskiy Alatau ridges). It is common on breeding in Western Tien Shan (Uzbekistan) not far of Kazakhstan's boundary. On mid August 2003 in upper Maidantal river (Talasskiy Alatau) two broods recorded on altitude 2480-3100 m, and in upper reaches of Kaskasu river on 2600 m the nest was found 16 July of the same year. On migration occurs in foothills of Western Tien Shan at Chokpak Pass, on Sorbulak lake and in Kolshengel.
