Distribution

On migration occurs everywhere in plains of Kazakhstan, sometimes on Markakol lake in Southern Altai.

Biology

Rare, in places common passage migrant. Occurs on the sandy, muddy and pebble shores of fresh or salty lakes, ponds, rivers and other waters. In spring appears in mid-May singly, or in small groups or flocks up to 50 birds. The spring passage finishes in first decade – mid-June. In autumn appears in the end of July, most birds observed in August, the latest ones registered in the end of September.
